The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini

Submitted by: Susan Kreisher

Generally, what inspires you to read?

It helps me relax.

When did you first read The Kite Runner?
2006

How did you come to read this book?
I just picked it off a book shelf. It's not the type of book I generally go for so I'm not quite sure what prompted me to buy it. I had not heard about the book until after I read it so I don't think I was influenced by anyone else to buy/read it.

Why has this book inspired you the most?
My brother is a soldier in Afghanistan and it helps me feel connected to him in some way and to realize the people there are just like us in many ways. I was inspired by the character who seemed to have nothing when in fact he had what matters most. I was also inspired to speak out and not remain quiet in the face of injustice. The person who suffers the most is the quiet one.

In reading this book, how has your life been influenced or changed?
I guess I answered this question in my previous response.
