Submitted by: Anonymous

Generally, what inspires you to read?
Just about anything will inspire me to read. If a professor recommends a book that is relevant to my field, I will try to find time to read it. If a friend tells me about a book that he or she enjoyed, I will try to read it. Perhaps a book will catch my eye while I am simply bored and wandering through a bookstore.

When did you first read Spilling Open: The Art of Becoming Yourself?
Freshman year of college.

How did you come to read this book?

A friend recommended it to me when I was struggling with allowing myself to grow personally without losing my core essence.

Why has this book inspired you the most?
I identified with the author and with the themes she explored throughout the book. It was as though I was reading about myself.

In reading this book, how has your life been influenced or changed?
It consoled me in a time of need and reminded me that other people fought the same battle that I was fighting. It gave me hope and boosted my courage to continue my deeply introspective journey. Since reading the book, I have learned to accept myself as a person as well as my beliefs.
